  • Colder's cold new wave of _Wrong Baby_ gets worked over the George Issakidis (formerly of the Micronauts) and Output's label boss, Trevor Jackson (better known as Playgroup). With more than a few whispers of New Order, the title track is an icy slab of alienation. But George Issakidis makes the track almost skeletal, with a beat, the vocals, and some overlaid noise -- at least until the high-pitched whines come in halfway through. Jackson, on the other hand, makes a more hypnotic mix, stripping down most of the vocals, until a whisper of the original remains. Not surprisingly, then, it's the Colder's original mix that has the most warmth.
